Capacitive Deionization is an eco-friendly tech. That remove hardness ions consuming relatively small energy, and that have characteristics of no requiring secondary regeneration wastes, high pressure pumps.
Features
- Needed less energy for the desalination process because high pressure pumps are not required
- Possible to make use of solar/wind power to power desalination units in remote areas due to the low energy required (potentially 30% to 60% less than the existing tech)
- More efficient for applications such as boiler water treatment because the carbon electrodes can withstand much higher tempera tures than membranes
- Far more efficient for the energy recovery than the membrane tech as the CDI modules act as EDLCs
